Cap de Creus natural park

- The Creus cape peninsula is one of the largest, protected, natural reserves in Catalonia, with a total area of 13,886 hectares, divided into 3,073 of coast and 10,813 of land, a fact which gives it the distinctive feature of being Catalonia's first foreshore natural reserve.
- Within the boundaries of the Park, a wide variety of activities can be enjoyed, such as diving and hiking. There are many possibilities for hikers. One option is to follow the Long-Distance Trails (GRs), which offer the visitor a global vision of the park.
- The GR-92 passes through practically all of the municipalities of the park (Llançà, El Port de la Selva, Cadaqués, Roses, Palau-saverdera and Pau) and finally links up with the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park.

The second biggest marsh in Catalonia is formed by a number of ponds and floodplains at the confluence of the rivers Muga and Fluvià. It is a privileged habitat for fauna, particularly waterfowl.

The Park itself is made up of three main areas:
The "Estanys" reserve: With large areas of cane fields and floodplains.
The "Llaunes" reserve:
With coastal lakes, saltmarshes and dunes.
The "Illa de Caramany" reserve:
Situated in the middle of Fluvià river, where a large quantity of birds nest.

Mountains of L'Albera
The mountains of L'Albera have been appointed Natural Site of National Interest. They are on the northwest area of Alt Empordà and belong to the municipalities of Jonquera, Espolla and Rabós.
They have one of the most important concentrations of megalithic monuments of the Mediterranean region.
